The Chief Editor of China Yanshi Press under Policy Research Office of the State Council, Gong Qiao addressed the release ceremony of Energy Revolution- Changing the 21st Century. He gave special thanks to the writers of the book Mr. Liu Hanyuan, Standing Committee member of the CPPCC, Standing Committee member of China Democratic National Construction Association, Board Chairman of Tongwei Group, and Mr. Liu Jiansheng, Energy Research Institute Director of Southwest University of Finance and Economics, Mr. Gong gave high credit for the book in terms of its research of new energy significance with innovative perspectives. 

He said, at present, China has become the world’s biggest carbon emitter. The current domestic and international environments we are facing and the historical responsibility we need to shoulder require us to speed up economic development transformation by self-reliant innovation, and optimize industrial structure upgrade. Our comprehensive and sustainable development depends on scientific technology development and innovations which can help build a resource-saving and eco-friendly society. Many developed countries have adjusted their strategies to a new energy, energy saving, eco-friendly, low carbon emission and green economy based development. Under such circumstances, it is necessary for China to shorten the economic and technological gap and take initiatives to gain long-term competitive advantages.

In this sense, Energy Revolution- Changing the 21st Century is not only a book, but an important contribution combining micro- and macro- perspectives, theoretical research and practice discoveries, general strategic thoughts and industry practical development. The book puts forward the ideas: The fundamental driving force of human development is energy and energy revolution; The fundamental solution to current economic development problems lies on new energy revolution. Solar cell and photovoltaic industry is the future of new energy development. 

Developing PV industry is the inevitable choice for China to ensure its energy security in the long run. PV power will become the major energy supply form as well as economic growth point in future. It is bound to give impetus to sustainable and rapid development of human economy and civilization. Solar PV industry will enjoy fast development under the guidance and strong support from national policies. The new industry will create a large number of job opportunities, manufacturing opportunities and construction opportunities. It is bound to accelerate the revival of the economy of China or even of the world.
